Vocational Progression Scheme

We support the vocational progression of young people by encouraging equal and fair treatment of vocational qualifications in the admissions process. We provide the opportunity for young people studying vocational courses to experience university at first-hand through taster sessions and master classes and ensure they receive the necessary Careers Information Advice and Guidance to apply and progress onto higher level courses.
The programme is based on our previous experience in delivering such a programme for learners studying level 3 Sports and Health and Care courses.
Our evaluation and research has shown that the programme increases the aspirations of the learners to progress onto HE/FE and that the level of applications from these courses to HE increases considerably. (In one case a college where progression was low for sports applications, increased from 20-80% the year after and the acceptance on an HE course rose from 10% to 60%).
