Support for Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties
We maintain and develop our support network for learners with Specific Learning Difficulties with schools and HEIs within the boroughs of Kingston, Richmond, Merton, Croydon, Sutton and Bromley. This network explores and disseminates the ways in which these learners are best supported to progress onto HE/FE. This network is made up of representatives from the FE/HE/schools sectors and Local Authorities.
We provide termly meetings for school and college staff working to support learners with a range of disabilities. The network identifies the key issues that relate to supporting students’ progression and transition to HE. We also identify the specific areas for CPD within the network and ensure that appropriate providers are identified (EAL and Neurodiversity).
We ensure that you have access to a generic disability transition conference for parents, staff and students incorporating/and additional events for specific disabilities. You will also have use of a web-based forum (e-mentoring facility) for students with specific learning differences attending the above event(s). In addition we will signpost information for students thinking of applying to HE, housing relevant learning resources specific to their needs. You will also have access to HEIs and a Network of schools and colleges across London who are working within this programme of activity.
