Into HE Programme

Aim
In providing a continuous and consistent experience of a series of distinct but linked activities with familiar staff and Undergraduates (Student Ambassadors), the programme aims to better prepare students to engage with the idea of ‘University’ as a realistic option.

Overall, the programmes aims are to increase the level of knowledge and understanding of Higher Education to inform young people in care and raise awareness of the range of opportunities available to young people in care to their foster carers and care workers

Process
Preparation for the Activities

1. Students via Local Authority staff are offered the opportunity to meet an Undergraduate from a Care   background/with a specific interest in their subject area prior to the start of the programme
2. Local Authority staff meet with students to identify who might be suitable to attend the programme and explain the content and purpose of the programme
3. Students and Local Authority staff are invited to attend all 3 termly visits
4. A celebratory Conference at the end of the year
