Cared for Learners

The educational attainment and progression of Looked After Children (LAC) from Primary school through post 16 education compared to other children over recent years has highlighted major disparities and significant disadvantage facing this group, specifically in relation to accessing opportunities for appropriate Information, Advice and Guidance.

Aimhigher London South work in collaboration with partner Local Authorities and Universities to provide a range of University experiences, giving young people a chance to sample at first hand different learning environments, courses and types of progression routes available to them:

There is a KS3 and KS4 programme each involving a combination of University visits, Outreach opportunities and Celebratory activities in the form of an end of programme Conference for Students, their Foster Carers and Local Authority Staff.
