Students from 2 Bromley schools took part in a pilot programme of aspiration-raising events at Bromley College on 26th March:
- Kemnal College of Technology
- Kelsey Park Sports College
The programme was developed as part of the National Aimhigher Roadshow Bus tour which annually visits Aimhigher schools and colleges across the country. This year the Roadshow toured London South schools from Monday 22nd-26th March.
The workshops hosted at Bromley College included:
Ambassadors from Ravensbourne College of Media and Communications work with students to interview one another using equipment from the media department
Connexions Bromley provided a debate session challenging the myths and legends about going to University
Mixture of chat and interactive sessions challenging views on rotes into HE and the types of courses available
Students attended a carousel of activities which included an interactive session from Ravensbourne College of Design and Communications on shooting a news-based item which encouraged students to develop and present their own video in groups.
The Connexions workshop gave students the chance to
explore different pathways and perceptions of HE through debating various topics in relation to progressing on to Higher Educution.
The Roadshow Bus saw the students being introduced to
luminous beanbags and a film about traditional and non-traditional progression routes to higher education, and discussing the possible longer term consequences of staying on/not staying on at school.

Students liked the tone and pace of the workshops, another added, ‘it’s a lot more chilled out than I expected.’
