Sports Summer Schools

In partnership with Aimhigher, London South Bank University and Kingston University both offer non-residential Sports summer schools to Year 10 and Year 12 for students in 2010

They are designed to encourage students to think about a possible career in the industry and to explore different qualifications they can gain. These Summer Schools are also a valuable opportunity for pupils to experience university life firsthand.

The Year 10 Summer School at Kingston University ran from from Monday 12th April to Wednesday 14th April 2010 and will include:

  • Sport science taster session at Kingston University
  • BTEC sports taster morning at Kingston College
  • Competitive sports afternoon at St Mary’s
  • A trip to Twickenham stadium
  • A talk on sports marketing

The Year 12 Summer School at London South Bank University will run from Wednesday 9th June to Friday 11th June 2010 and will include:

  • UCAS applications workshop
  • Field trip to a sporting venue
  • Sports science workshops in Nutrition and Psychology of Sport
  • Talks on working in sports sponsorship & marketing, sports product design, working as a fitness coach, sport rehabilitation & physio and other related professions
  • Olympic Site Tour
